Hi there!

I’m Anna Jung-Hwa (she/her), a queer Korean-American portrait photographer and activist based in Chicago (Potawatomi, Odawa, and Ojibwe land). In everything I do, I draw influence from my experience as a woman of color, my time living in the Dominican Republic, and from where I’ve proudly resided the majority of my life: The City of Chicago.

My approach to photography is simple. I’m not a fan of unnatural poses, plastic settings, or over editing. I desire for my work to live at the intersection of observation and intimacy, and I strive to create images that feel less like performances and more like conversations — moments of recognition where individuality, pride, and history converge.

I’ve had my work featured in publications such as Vogue, The Knot, CNN, and Apartment Therapy. When I’m not photographing, I’m most likely participating in community care in my neighborhood. You can find out more about my values and alignments here.

I would love to connect with you and learn more about who you are, what you're looking for, and how I can best tell your story.
